While these stories can no longer be considered current news, they still say a lot about the people, hearts, and energies of SFPC.

A Special Christmas Pageant

On Sunday, December 9th at 5:30, the congregation was treated to an all-new, original Christmas Pageant created and composed by Tim Mallard from poems written by Lily Ann Morgan Brooks, granddaughter of Ann Brooks. If you were feeling stressed and less than joyful, this pageant has filled us with Christmas spirit. A sanctuary filled with children, youth, and adults enjoyed the heart-warming multimedia event celebrating the true meaning of Christmas.

The service, called "Celebrating the Christ Child," included traditional and contemporary Christmas music, poetry and scripture readings in a "multimedia enhanced" modified lessons and carols format.  Many thanks to the many volunteers that provided a truly memorable experience.

The Kings Center sends thanks for SFPC's generosity in donating gifts for 28 individuals and money to pay for $1,070 in Pic Pac gift certificates for groceries. Sherry Paul, at the Kings Center, provided names of individuals who were likely to have no other Christmas gifts this year, and families for whom the Pic Pac gift certificates would be a significant help. Roland Herzel, moderator for the deacons, who sponsored the Angel Project, said he was afraid that with the current economic climate, not all the angels would be adopted or there wouldn't be enough extra money to help with groceries. He was delighted to report this year's success.
On Saturday, December 2nd, The Faith In Action Sunday School Class volunteered to do bell ringing for the Salvation Army.  Class members manned the 'kettle' each for two hours at the east Frankfort Kroger store.  We were fortunate to have great weather and a lot of cheerful givers.  Thanks to Nancye Belle and Jim for organizing this effort.
